Riley Keough shares heartfelt tribute to brother Benjamin on two year anniversary of his passing

Riley Keough jumped to her Instagram earlier on Tuesday to remember her younger brother who passed away by suicide exactly two years ago.

The two siblings appeared to have had a close bond and relationship, and his sudden death came as a painful shock to the star and her family.

The Zola actress, 33, typed out a loving caption, writing, ‘I still can’t believe you’re not here.’ Her brother was only 27 years old at the time of his death.

The actress shared a photo on her Instagram of herself and her brother posing for a picture on her wedding day in 2015.

Riley added below the picture, ‘Not an hour goes by where I don’t think of you and miss you.’

She continued with, ‘It’s been two years today since you left and I still can’t believe you’re not here. You are so loved my Ben Ben.’

At the time of his death, TMZ reported that the LA County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office informed the publication that his death was being ruled a suicide caused by a shotgun.

After an autopsy, Extra reported that traces of alcohol and cocaine were found in his system.

During an interview with InStyle, one year after Benjamin’s passing, the filmmaker opened up about how she was moving on following the tragedy.

‘I’m just generally trying to be grateful for everything at the moment, trying to operate in love, and keep my heart open, and give and receive love,’ Riley explained.

‘And not in a woo-woo way, because I definitely have hard days, and all kinds of pain and suffering and all that,’ she added.

The Girlfriend Experience star also got a tattoo of Benjamin’s name near her collarbone to always have him close, although his physical presence was no longer there.

Following the news of his death, Benjamin’s mother, Lisa Marie Presley, expressed her shock.

According to TMZ, her manager, Roger Widynowski, told the publication that, ‘She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11 year old twins and her oldest daughter Riley.’

He ended the statement by adding, ‘She adored that boy. He was the love of her life.’

Brandon Howard, a close friend to Benjamin, opened up to people not long after his passing about some of the struggles his pal was going through.

‘Sometimes he struggled with depression, which is a serious thing with the coronavirus and everything happening right now and everybody locked in the house,’ he stated.

Brandon also explained how Benjamin felt a lot of ‘pressure’ to be someone great due to being the grandson of Elvis.

‘It’s a tough thing when you have a lot of pressure with your family and living up to a name and an image,’ he revealed to the publication. ‘It’s almost like you’re pressured into having to be a musician, having to be an actor.’

He talked about how his friend had a big heart and was the type of person to always be there for others.

‘In any kind of situation, he would be the one who would come crash with you on the couch for weeks until you’re actually feeling better.’
